April 2014 - Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman - a quick & very funny read for the whole family!

“Fortunately, I had kept tight hold of the milk, so when I splashed into the sea I didn’t lose it.” Dad, pg. 16 Fortunately, the Milk

Right now you're probably thinking – “Huh?!”, and wondering if maybe, just maybe there is a typo in that quote.  But I assure, there is not (I checked three times).  You see their Mum had gone to a conference, to present a paper on lizards, and the last thing she said to their dad before she left was that they were almost out of milk.  Of course their dad forgot, and when they all sat down to breakfast the next morning, there was nothing to pour on their cereal, and nothing for him to put in his tea.    So, he went out for some milk … and was gone a very, very, very long time.  When he finally returned, he told the children a fantastic story of the adventures he’d had, starting with being sucked up into a huge silver disc that was hovering above the corner shop and ending with being dropped off at the back door by a hot air balloon, which by the way was being piloted by a Stegosaurus, a very famous Stegosaurus.  What happens in between, well, I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so you will have to read and find out for yourself.

This wacky tale has it all, pirates, dinosaurs, exploding volcanoes, ponies and much, much more!  Plus the illustrations by Skottie Young, add extra fun!  Check out Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman, gather the family round and enjoy a good laugh!
