The Board of Trustees are seeking a community member to join the Board who possesses a passion for public library service. A Barberton Public Library Trustee must be a registered voter, with Barberton residency preferred. The successful candidate will serve a term which runs through June 2031.

The seven-member Board of Trustees is the governing body authorized by the State of Ohio to establish policies and develop the Library’s annual budget.  Board members are volunteers who represent the citizens’ interest while promoting the highest level of library service appropriate to the community, in accordance with state law.  The Library Director and Fiscal Officer work with the Board to ensure that the community is being provided with library services and materials that reflect Barberton’s values and standards. 

The Board generally meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. The Personnel, Finance and Audit, and Building Committees meet as needed and each Trustee serves on at least one committee.

Anyone interested in serving the community as a Library Trustee is encouraged to submit an application, current resume, and cover letter by June 21, 2024.  Applications are available at www.barbertonlibrary.org, the Library’s Customer Service Desk, and the Community Health Branch.
