On February 12, 1918, the county commissioner heard a petition for the annexation of the Snydertown area into Barberton. Many residents understood annexation meant better sanitation, fire and police protection, water supply, sewage, streets, and school system for Snydertown; however, several residents objected to the annexation causing the final decision to be delayed until May 13, 1918.
