The Vietnam War and Kent State - CANCELED

Date
On May 4, 1970, Ohio National Guard troops fired at Kent State University students who were protesting the expansion and continuation of the Vietnam War. It is the only time in American history where the American military shot and killed American students. The incident sparked hundreds of student strikes across the country, a song by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, two investigations, and several court cases. It continues to be controversial, draw mixed emotions, and resonate strongly with many Americans, especially the baby boomer generation. This program is meant to look at the events of May 1970 in a politically neutral, fact-driven way to mark the 50th anniversary of the shootings.
